Russian enterprises of NLMK reduce impact on environment

In the first six months of 2015, NLMK, the largest steel producer in Russia and one of the most efficient steel companies in the world, improved the environmental performances of Russian enterprises with the increase in the production volumes.

In the first six months of 2015, the steel output increased by 3% as compared with the same period in 2014, but the burden on the environment decreased:

- specific emissions of Russian companies decreased by 5% y/y to 20.9 kg/t of steel and became closer to the level of the best available technologies of 18.9 kg/t of steel;

- specific water consumption decreased by 7.2% y/y to 5.1 cubic meters/t, it is better than standard (7 cubic meters/t);

- discharge of pollutants from industrial water decreased by 33% y/y to 0.02 kg/t (standard is 0);
