BP and SOCAR start studies at shallow area of Absheron arch

BP-Azerbaijan plans to start 3D seismic exploration at the shallow are of the Absheron arch in March 2016.
The seismic exploration will cover the area of 1.52 thousand sq km.
The works are planned to be held within 9 weeks.
Special equipment from the USA and Malaysia will be delivered, vessels and foreign personnel so as to hold the works.
The PSA between SOCAR and BP for the development and geological exploration at the shallow area of the Absheron arch was signed on December 22, 2014.
The contract area is about 1.9 thousand sq km, BP and SOCAR hold 50% each.
The works are divided into 3 stages: initial exploration, main exploration and development of deposits.
