Turkish Stream finds new followers

Visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to Budapest has once again proved Hungary’s devotion to energy cooperation with the main supplier of energy sources in the country - Russia. Hungary, earlier defended the South Stream project to the end, is ready to be a transit country for Russian gas and supports the construction of a new pipeline to Turkey.

“A good investment for Hungary would be one, at which the Turkish gas goes through Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary. I trust the agreements, concluded with the Russian President,"- said the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during the joint press conference with Putin.

Russia, in turn, won’t remain owing, Gazprom is ready to transfer the delivery of gas volumes, untaken by Hungary, for the following periods and release Budapest from take-or-pay condition.

It is noteworthy that during the press conference the parties carefully avoided the sharp corners of the relations, namely reverse gas supplies to the Ukraine, carried out by Hungary, against which Russia firmly stands.
