Rosneft doesn’t want to build terminal in Murmansk

As the Kommersant has got to know, key projects of the Murmansk Transport Hub (MTU) are not only stopped, but also run the risk of never be materialized. We are talking about the construction of the coal and the oil terminal Lavna. Thus, according to the Kommersant’s information, Rosneft, which is at the final stage of purchase of Lavna from Sintez Petroleum, doesn’t consider the construction of the oil terminal in the region. Other oil companies don’t need these facilities against the background of the fact that the prospects of the Arctic development are becoming increasingly vague.

At the end of 2015, Rosneft, started the purchase of 100% of Lavna from Sintez Petroleum, rejected the idea of ​​the construction of the oil terminal on the western shore of the Kola Bay, the State Commission for the Arctic reports. Lavna intended to implement this project, it was begun by Synthesis Petroleum, founded by Leonid Lebedev, at the beginning of the 2005. The transshipment of 25 million tons of oil from the company's deposits on the Arctic shelf, as well as 10 million tons from the mainland, was provided for. The construction was carried out on account of private investment, the first phase was estimated at 10.7 billion rubles.
