Belarus hopes Russia will keep the same the gas price

Belarus hopes for the saving of price for the Russian gas in 2016 or even for its reduction, Minister of  Energy, V. Potupchik, said.

According to him, the price for the Russian gas depends on many factors, the change of which can be easily predicted. First it is about the volatility of the Russian rouble which in its turn also depends on many factors, including on the world prices for oil.

It is difficult to say what will be after Jan 1st 2016. If the situation stays the same as today, there might be a slight price fall for the Russian gas, Potupchik said.

He said that Minsk may hope for the reduction of the gas price if Russia doesn’t raise the domestic prices for gas for its consumers.

So we hope to at least save the price at today’s level, he said.

In H2 the price for the Russian gas for Belarus rose by $3/thousand cubic m to $142 (VAT excluded).
