The downward trend and fluctuations in gas demand still continue in Europe. The causes of this are sluggish economic growth, active energy saving, the substitution of gas generation by coal, subsidies for alternative fuels. The reduction in the gas share is also connected with the fact that the decrease in the wholesale and spot prices on the European market didn’t led to decrease in the prices for the final consumer, as it was expected, rather on the contrary. Gas is losing the price competition.
