High-sulfur crude oil to be isolated in separate flow at Ust-Luga

The Russian Ministry of Energy believes that the least-cost option to preserve the quality of oil in the Transneft’s system is separation of a single sour flow to the port of Ust-Luga. This was announced by Director of the Ministry’s Department of Oil and Gas Mikhail Gryaznov.

He explained that the Ministry of Energy together with Transneft and oil companies considered three options for solving this problem: even distribution of sour crude oil by export destinations, a separate flow and processing of sour crude oil at refineries, located at the point of the production.
