Arbitration Court dismissed the case of Rosneft on access to Sakhalin-2 gas pipeline
The Arbitration Court of the Sakhalin region hasn’t satisfied a claim of Rosneft against the operator of Sakhalin-2 – Sakhalin Energy (50% plus 1 share belong to Gazprom) on providing the access to the gas pipeline belonging to the project.
The motivation part of the decision will be ready in 5 days.
The LNG plant in the framework of Sakhalin-2 is currently the only one in Russia. Gazprom wants to expand it. But Rosneft has its own project of an LNG plant at Sakhalin (joint project with ExxonMobil). The access to the gas pipeline of Sakhalin-2 is necessary to make it cheaper.
Having been denied by Gazprom to provide access to the pipe, Rosneft filed a claim against the company-operator Sakhalin Energy asking to provide the access to the pipeline. Rosneft needs to pump up to 8 bln cubic m of gas a year by the pipe.
