Turkmenistan connects oil extraction growth with the Caspian

​Tukmenneft starts to realize the plans on the development of deposits of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian.

The sea resources of Turkmenistan are assessed at 12 bln tons of oil and 6.5 trln cubic m of gas, not taking into account the contracted blocks.

The first works in this direction were the development of the water part of the Northern Goturdepe deposit located in the shallow area of the Caspian.

The newest technology was applied there – drilling of deep inclined operational wells. The drilled in the past years wells at the shallow area of the Caspian Sea met the forecasts of geologists and drillers.

As a result of the successful recovery of sea wells a new oil layer was discovered in 2015 at the depth of over 4,000 m. A strong fountain flow was received there with the output of over 250 tons of oil a day, that exceeds by a few times the average rates at the operated by the company surface deposits.

Recently Turkmenistan received a modern drilling unit ZJ-70 DB produced in China. It allows to drill wells with the depth of up to 7,000 m where, according to the forecasts of geologists, the most productive underground oil and gas layers are located.
