Subsoil use contract for Imashevsky deposit hasn’t been signed as yet

​The signing of the agreement between the Russian and Kazakh companies by the Imashevsky deposit is at the preparatory stage. The contract for subsoil use hasn’t been signed, the Vice-Prime Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, M. Mirzagaliev, said.

In September 2010 Russia and Kazakhstan signed the intergovernmental agreement on joint activity for geological study and exploration of the Imashevsky gas condensate deposit. The agreement came into force on Jan 17th 2011.

In November 2013 a protocol to the agreement was signed by the Governments of 2 countries on the cooperation in the development of the Imashevsky gas condensate deposit. According to the document, the operator of the project is appointed by Gazprom and KazMunaiGas. But if previously the operator could execute the works only on geological study and exploration of this site, by the new amendments to the agreement the operator will be granted the right to use the subsoil for geological study and exploration of the Imashevsky gas condensate deposit.
