MMK expects growth of demand for steel in April-May

On the results of Q1 2015 MMK reduced the total steel production by 6.3% against Q1 2015 and produced 3 mln 25 thousand tons. This is by 4.4% higher than in Q4 2015.

The total shipment of saleable goods of MMK (with the deduction of internal turnover) in Q1 2016 made up 2 mln 788 thousand tons, by 4.5% higher than in Q4 2015 but by 5.4% lower than in Q1 2015. The reduction of shipment is due to the non typical high level of sales in Q1 2015 when metal traders filled their stock houses on the background of high inflation expectations.

The shipment of metal products to the market of Russia and the CIS fell by 4.7% which is explained by the seasonal weak domestic demand in January 2016. The export of metal products of MMK in Q1 2016 grew by 32% to 204 thousand tons.

According to the company’s forecasts, in April-May the demand for products of MMK in the domestic market will start to gradually recover.
