The State Department considers "Nord Stream-2" as an attempt to put pressure on the Ukraine.

The gas pipeline "Nord Stream-2" is not a commercial project, and aims to put pressure on the Ukraine, depriving it of revenue from transit, special envoy and coordinator of the US State Department's International Energy Amos Hochsteyn expressed an opinion in an interview with "the Kommersant", published on Thursday, May 19.

" "North Stream-1" is only 70 per cent filled. If we build new LNG terminals or new pipelines from other sources, this infrastructure will be sufficient to supply gas to Europe. Commercial benefits of building a new pipeline for $ 12 billion, despite the fact that the infrastructure already exists, and gas prices are currently low, is questionable", - Hochsteyn stated.
