Active extraction of hydrocarbons in the Arctic will start by 2025- Ministry of Energy

The active extraction of hydrocarbons in the Arctic will start by 2025, the first deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, A. Texler, said.

“In the framework of our strategy we hope that the active stage of hydrocarbons extraction will start in about 10 years”, he said.

We hope in about 20 years, in 2035, the volume of extraction at the shelf to be 50 mln against 16 mln tons today, not less than 33 mln tons, he said.

The Ministry of Energy assesses the value of the extracted in the Arctic oil to be $30-100/barrel dependent on the expenditure for its extraction in the Arctic.
