Lukoil dispatches the first oil from West Qurne-2 field

Lukoil has shipped the first batch of oil in the volume of 1 million barrels from the Iraqi field West Qurna-2, the company reports.

The tanker Sea Triumph, chartered by Litasco (international marketing and sales division of Lukoil) departed from the port of Basra in southern Iraq to the port of Augusta on Sicily. After unloading the oil will be transported for processing to Lukoil’s refinery ISAB in Priolo, the report said.

Today., the production at the field exceeds 280 thousand barrels per day. West Qurna-2, located in 65 km to the north-west of Basra, is the second largest undeveloped field in the world with recoverable reserves in the volume of about 14 billion barrels. Lukoil owns 75% of the project, and the Iraqi state-owned North Oil Company - 25%.
