Gazprom might supply LNG to Pakistan and participate in extraction projects in the country

​The chairman of Gazprom, A. Miller, and Minister of Oil and Natural Resources of Pakistan, Sh. Kh. Abbasi, discussed perspective directions of cooperation.

The parties discussed an opportunity of LNG supplies to Pakistan and Gazprom’s participation in the projects of exploration and hydrocarbons extraction in Pakistan.

The proven gas resources of Pakistan make up about 570 bln cubic m – it is the 6th in the APR by this rate (after Australia, China, Indonesia, India and Malaysia). In 2014 gas production in Pakistan made up 42 bln cubic m. the entire extracted gas is consumed in the domestic market.

The main gas producers in Pakistan are the state companies Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDCL) and Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (PPL). The first LNG-terminal in Pakistan (3 mln tons a year) was launched in March 2015.
