Hungary to defend the concept of gas supplies to the EU via the "Turkish Stream".

Hungary is going to defend a new concept of Russian gas supplies to the EU. Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an interview with "the Kommersant" stated that his country would ensure that the EU had not ignored the new Russian project to build a "Turkish stream" gas pipeline.

At the time signed Hungary with "Gazprom" an intergovernmental agreement on accession to the "South Stream" gas pipeline project from Russia to Europe. Late last year the Russian Federation refused to implement the project, accusing the European Union of unconstructive approach to its implementation. During the visit of the RF President Vladimir Putin to Ankara the construction of a new gas pipeline to Turkey, which is now called the "Turkish stream", was announced. In Turkey it was decided to set up a gas hub for European consumers on the border with Greece. However, now Europe has to build its own infrastructure that would allow for the supply of gas to the EU.
