Russia to double the number of drilling platforms by 2030

The number of floating drilling platforms at the shelf of Russia will double by 2030 to make up about 30, the deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, K. Molodtsov, said.

At the present time 15 drilling platforms function at the shelf: 8 fixed extraction platforms (can drill and pump) and 7 platforms-vessels (floating platforms that can drill wells but not be fixed at them – underwater extraction needs to be organized or a fixed platform to be constructed). K. Molodtsov added that now the total number of the undertaken by the companies license obligations on working in the water areas of Russia with the help of drilling platforms is 30.

The shipbuilding plants of Russia execute orders for Gazprom (68 licenses at the shelf), Rosneft (48 shelf licenses, the majority – in the Arctic), Lukoil (10 licenses, all in the Caspian Sea) and Gazprom Neft (5 licenses at the shelf).
