Lukoil doesn’t expect a breakthrough in the negotiations on quotas for the freezing of oil extraction

​The negotiations between the countries will go on, Lukoil’s head, V. Alekperov, thinks, but there won’t be any breakthrough.

Lukoil doesn’t expect a breakthrough in the negotiations on oil extraction freezing but they should go on, V. Alekperov said.

The oil extraction countries on the results of the meeting in Doha on April 17th couldn’t come to an agreement concerning oil extraction freezing. Saudi Arabia that previously spoke about an opportunity of signing the agreement, had a strict position at the negotiations in Doha and refused to support any agreement without the participation of Iran. Iran, in its turn, announced of the readiness to discuss the issue of freezing only after reaching the pre-sanctions level of 4 mln barrels a day and was not presence at the meeting in Doha.

Next time the issue of freezing will be discussed at the meeting of OPEC in Vienna in June. In case of reaching the agreement, the oil extraction countries – not members of OPEC may join the negotiations.
