Gazprom receives pipe-laying ship

Against the background of sanctions, Gazprom has begun to take real actions to reduce technological dependence in the most vulnerable areas - LNG production and laying of submarine pipelines. The company has officially announced the receipt of pipe-laying vessel and, according to the Kommersant’s information, considers its participation in the laying of Nord Stream-2, in cooperation with the European contractor.

Gazprom has received a pipe-laying vessel "Akademik Cherskii", deputy chairman of the monopoly’s Board Vitaly Markelov said yesterday at the press conference. "Gazprom has built a pipe-laying vessel for conducting works, for works on the shelf - it is universal," - he said. According to him, the company plans to use the vessel in the Kirinsky block on the Sakhalin shelf. On Tuesday, Gazprom Fleet reported about the lease of the vessel from the Russian contractor Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy (MRTS), which rebuilt it in the shipyard in Singapore.
