Maersk Drilling prolongs contract for the Shah-Deniz field

The Danish company Maersk Drilling has extended the contract with British BP on operational of the drilling rig n.a. Heydar Aliyev till May 2021. The approximate cost of the contract extension is estimated at $523 million.

"The company will continue to develop the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea. The new contract is a continuation of the existing one, which will expire in May 2016," – the company’s website says.

"We are very pleased to extend [the operation contract] on drilling rig n.a. Heydar Aliyev, and we hope to continue our cooperation with BP," - said general director and member of the Executive Board of Maersk Drilling, Claus Hemmingsen, whose words were quoted in the company’s message.
