Russia applies to UN for expansion of the economic zone in the Sea of Okhotsk

Russia submitted the application to UN for expansion of the 200-mile economic zone due to the continental shelf sector in the Sea of Okhotsk and expects it will be considered soon, ITAR-TASS reports with the reference to deputy Minister of Natural Resources Denis Khramov.

“We have submitted the application for a part of the continental shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk”, he said. Officially, the application was submitted on August 16 at the meeting of UN Committee for the borders of continental shelf.
