Smolensk Kristall offers to merge with ALROSA

Smolensk Kristall speaks in favour of the construction of a vertically integrated structure that would combine diamond mining, the production of diamonds and retail. This idea was expressed by general director of Kristall, Maxim Shkadov to the Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev, the Kommersant writes.

According to Shkadov, it will allow the company to improve its economics. It would be logical for the state to create a holding company, closing the entire chain in the industry - from the mining to the retail sale of jewelry. But such scheme doesn’t fit into the strategy of Alrosa and, according to experts, it could lead to a change in its leadership
