A new gas condensate field has been discovered in Jurassic layers of Yamal

The industrial flow of gas condensate mixture have been discovered by Gazprom geological exploration Ltd in the process of testing of 2 exploratory wells at the West-Tambey and Tasiysky deposits in Yamal. It means the discovery of a new gas condensate field.

The Jurassic layers were formed 145-201 mln years ago and are located at the depth of 3,500-4,500 m under the Senoman and Achimov hydrocarbons layers. Deep exploratory drilling and testing of wells in the Jurassic layers is connected with a number of technological challenges explained by anomalous high layer pressure and temperature in the wells.

The results of testing of wells allow to speak about the discovery of a new gas condensate field. Geological exploration at the West-Tambey and Tasiysky deposits were held in the Soviet times, however, such significant flows from the Jurassic layers were not received then, CEO of Gazprom geological exploration Ltd, A. Davydov, said.

After the completion of testing of these wells, the report on the calculation of reserves would be submitted to the State Committee for mineral reserves of Russia.
