OMZ- Special Steels makes 420 tons weight ingot for reactor of new generation of VVER-TOI project

The ingot will be used to produce experimental shell for the reactor core of a new generation of the VVER-TOI project, developed by the general designer of nuclear power plants Atomenergoproekt (Rosatom). The ingot of such mass will be used to make the shell of the reactor vessel for the first time, previously the maximum weight of ingots for elements of the reactor vessel was 360 tons.

Research-and-development activities on the development of new technology and mastering of reactor vessel are carried out at OMZ Special Steels within the implementation of the VVER-TOI project. The works are conducted with OMZ –Izhora, NPO TSNIITMASH and Central Research Institute or Structural Materials "Prometey".
