Rosneft may leave the gas project Severenergia

Rosneft may exchange its share in Severenergia to the Novatek’s package in Sibneftegaz, three sources that are close to Novatek, its owners and Gazpromneft, told the Vedomosti. Another source that is close to one of the negotiations parties explains the sense of this deal this way. Rosneft is unlikely to be interested in minority share in the project. Its goal is to become the controlling shareholder. But Novatek and Gazpromneft don’t want to leave it. That’s why the partners proposed Rosneft to exchange the share in the project to another gas asset, the Vedomosti’s interlocutor says. Representatives of all companies declined to comment.
