Statoil is disappointed by the results of an exploration drilling around the deposit Johan Castberg in the Barents Sea because of the lack of oil expectations.
It makes the company to reconsider the development strategy in the region. The drilling of the well 7220/4-1 (Kramsnoe) proved the presence of gas. The recoverable gas resources are assessed at 2-4 billion cubic meters.
“We have almost completed the drilling programme at Johan Castberg. There is oil at only one of the four drilled wells. The last site for drilling is Drivis.
