Lifting of status of firing range in the Atyrau region to increase reserves of “black gold” significantly

Kazakhstan and Russia have agreed in principle on the return of the most of the firing range №85, located in the territory of Atyrau region, to the Kazakh side. There are oil fields in the territory of the firing range. In 1999, a feasibility study on the block Taisoigan was made, in which was a figure of 51 million tons of oil, the newspaper Express K reports.

The military firing range was in Kzylkuginsky district from the time of the Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union a huge plot of 750 thousand hectares was leased by the Russian Defense Ministry. But it included fertile land and oil fields.

The joint venture Matin has an area of ​​2 500 hectares, 990 of which are located in the zone of the Taysoigan firing range. Because of this, exploration drilling hasn’t been carried out here. If the status of firing range is removed from these territories, it will give a significant increase of "black gold" reserves to Kazakh oil companies. In addition, owners of sheep farms can’t receive official documents for their houses, since they live in the territory of the Russian firing range. Moreover, farms can’t even get loans to develop their business.
