OMK not to build terminal in Ust-Luga

United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has rejected its plans to launch its own terminal for export at the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region, the ITAR-TASS reports, referring to comments of the company’s representative.

The company planned to launch the Baltic metallurgical terminal (BMT) with a capacity of up to 2 million tons per year and possibility to be extended to 4 million tons. But in 2013, the company faced difficulties related to access to the railway infrastructure. Then Russian Railways reduced the works on the development of the infrastructure at the near approaches to the port of Ust-Luga and the construction of a station of Ust-Luga centre, explained this with the lack of funds.
