A potential Vice-President of European Commission prefers South Corridor

The candidate to the Vice-President of the European Commission in the Energy Sector, M. Sherchovich, prefers the Southern Corridor gas pipeline for gas shipment from Russia to the South Stream project which aims at gas supply from EU to Azerbaijan, he said at the meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee, RIA Novosti reports.

South Stream has been shut down. We can’t accept the fact that such a large in EU project can be realized by the company that doesn’t want to follow the rules of the Union. I think we can give our political and financial support for South Stream because this project helps us to diversify the energy sources, he said adding that South Stream doesn’t expand the number of sources of energy received by the EU.
