The Ukraine to go on gas purchase only from Europe in the near future

​Lower gas prices in the European market and its sufficient reserves at the Ukrainian storages allow the Ukraine to do without the purchase of the Russian gas in the near future, the chairman of Naftogas, A. Kobolev, said.

Now we purchase the entire gas in the European market. We can’t see a necessity to change the source of purchase, taking into account more favorable prices in Europe, Mr. Kobolev said.

He added that as of Friday morning gas purchase from Europe made up about 40 mln cubic m a day, collection from the underground storages- about 90 mln cubic m.

Mr. Kobolev said that in case of extremely cold weather for a long period, in theory the Ukraine might need to purchase Russian gas. The end of February was always a problem for the Ukraine, he said.

Currently the gas transportation system is working in a regular mode.
