Ukraine loses leadership in steel smelting

In April, the Ukraine was the tenth largest global steel producer, having become the leader in falling of production. Steel smelting fell by 8.4% to 2.748 million tons versus April 2012, and by 4.1% less than in March. Steel smelting was 65.65 million tons in China (+6.8%), 9.17 million tons (+1%), and 7.3 million tons in the USA (-7.3%) in April 2013 versus April 2012. In January – April, it was 257.4 million tons in China (+8.4%), 35.8 million tons in Japan (+0.5%) and 28.76 million tons in the USA (-7.3%).
