Gazprom to help Baku
Europe counts on Azerbaijani gas, but Azerbaijan is already experiencing a gas deficit. Gazprom has stated that it’s ready to cover the gas demand of the republic. Market experts say that somehow Azeri gas will go to Europe, but 10 billion cubic meters is the maximum that Azerbaijan can give, while the needs of the EU will grow by 100-150 billion cubic meters in 2030.
Gazprom has announced that it’s ready to start the gas supplies to Azerbaijan. Until this year, the Russian monopoly itself bought Azerbaijani gas. According to Gazprom, in 2013 it received 1.4 billion cubic meters, in 2014 - already 0.21 billion cubic meters, and in 2015, the supplies from Azerbaijan were reduced to zero.
"In connection with the increase in the domestic consumption and economic growth in Azerbaijan, Gazprom is ready to meet the needs of the republic in the import of gas in the necessary amounts," - said head of the monopoly Alexei Miller during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
