A new gas deposit has been discovered in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan has  discovered new gas bearing layers at the Galkynysh deposit.

Industrial gas flow from the well #26 have appeared at the Gunorta Yoloten site, that allowed to expand the gas bearing part of the Galkynysh deposit in the southern direction.

The industrial gas flow was received from the well #1 at the Bagly site and #1 at the Juji site also located at the Galkynysh deposit.

The reserves of the Galkynysh deposit along with the reserves of the Yashar deposit are assessed at 26.2 trln cubic m of gas, taking into account the newly discovered Gerakel deposit which is in the structure of this block of deposits – up to 27.4 trln cubic m.

In May 2016 another perspective gas deposit – Jurdji – was discovered near the Galkynysh deposit.

By the preliminary assessment, over 600 thousand cubic m of gas a day may be extracted at the deposit.

The discovery of new gas bearing layers was possible as a result of the held 3D seismic exploration.  

Besides the Galkynysh and Yashlar deposits in the Eastern Turkmenistan the works were held in the south-western part of the country at the Akpatlavuk, Korpedje deposit.
