New enterprise may be created at Nadvoitsy aluminium plant

A meeting of the working group for the development of single-industry towns, headed by the Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Rashid Nurgaliev, created under the state commission on the preparations for the 100th anniversary of Karelia, has taken place in Segezha, the press service of the regional government of the region reported.

According to General Director of the Nadvoitsy aluminium plant (NAZ, a part of UC Rusal), Nikolay Grachev, 2013 was the most difficult year for all time of the enterprise work. Because of the fall of aluminium prices on the world market, production is unprofitable, so its volume decreased by almost twice. Currently, only the 4th building of the plant is still working. However, due to continuous efforts of the Karelia’s government to protect interests of Nadvoitsy at the federal level, it managed to avoid a complete shutdown of the plant. UC Rusal approved a plan for NAZ, which provided for maintenance of  its production activities until the end of the first six months of 2014.
