Rosneft’s affiliate has started to monitor pipelines by pilotless aircraft

​RN-Krasnodarneftegas Ltd, affiliate of Rosneft, has started to use pilotless aircrafts to monitor field pipelines and land infrastructure.

The testing of pilotless aircrafts started at the deposits in the Slavyansky, Akhtyrsko-Chernomorsky districts. The use of pilotless aircrafts allows to simplify the monitoring taking into account a complicated relief where RN-Krasnodarneftegas runs its activity and a significant length of pipelines of various meaning – over 3.6 thousand km.

Pilotless aircrafts are used for quick determination of the reasons of deviations of technological regimes of operation of pipeline objects, detection of unauthorized people in the protected area, holding of ecological monitoring and control of operation of contractors while holding capital repair of pipelines.

Pilotless aircrafts are equipped with special devices to hold 24-hour photo and video recording, including in the IR band. Within an hour a pilotless aircraft is able to cover over 70 km of pipelines. It is meant for the operation in various regions of Russia and can be used at a wide temperature range and in complicated weather conditions.

The company has a good experience of using pilotless aircrafts at its enterprises RN-Yuganskneftegas, Samotlorneftegas and Tomskneft.
