Azerbaijan is negotiating on Turkmen gas pumping by Southern Gas Corridor

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are negotiating on gas pumping from the deposits in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian by the Southern Gas Corridor, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, N. Aliev, said.

In total 5 bln cubic m of gas a year can be extracted from these deposits and they can be shipped by the Southern Gas Corridor. In future this rate may grow to 10 bln cubic m that forms good perspectives for this corridor.

N. Aliev said that Turkmenistan has an opportunity of export in the western direction of up to 30 bln cubic m of gas a year.

Speaking about the project of construction of TAP, N. Aliev said that with its realization there are many unsettled issues not depending on Azerbaijan.

I think the export of the Turkmen gas in the western direction to be real, and Turkmenistan doesn’t oppose it but on the condition of gas sale on its border. It raises many questions, Aliev said.
