Italian Snam to buy 17% of shares from the 66% of Greek DESFA, being bought by SOCAR

SOCAR will sell 17% of the shares of 66% stake in the Greek public gas distribution company DESFA, acquired by it, to Italian Snam, said the Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev in an interview with TV channel ANS.

"The Greek side stated to us that the issue of the transaction on DESFA must be resolved before the end of 2016. The European antitrust authorities offers SOCAR to sell 17% of the shares (66% are being acquired) to a third party and to retain 49% to approve this transaction. Currently the matter is under negotiation. We will sell the 17% stake to the Italian company Snam and, thus, the issue of DESFA will be solved," - said the Minister.
