A. Mordashov opposite RZD tariffs rise

The head of Severstal, A. Mordashov, said that the planned growth of RZD tariffs will significantly increase transportation costs, and consequently, of finished products that might lead to the shutdown of the profit-making production chains.

“Russia Steel” (unites the leading metallurgical companies of Russia) has sent a letter to the Prime Minister, D. Medvedev, in which it was opposite the unreasonable growth of RZD tariffs. The head of “Russia Steel”, A. Mordashov, heads Severstal OJSC. He signed the letter.

A. Mordashov says with the growth of the tariffs by 1 rouble per ton of the transported raw materials the total expenditure of the metallurgical enterprises rises by more than 4.5 roubles/ton.

Proportionally the price of ready finished products for consumers rises. According to the head of Severstal, within the last 12 years the cost of the transportation of steel semi-finished goods in Russia rose 4.5 times to $65/ton.
