Shell has been issued permission for drilling in the Arctic

​The US Government has officially allowed Royal Dutch Shell to start geological exploration drilling at the Arctic shelf of the Chukotka Sea not far from Alaska. The company can only hold surface drilling as not all the emergency response equipment has been bought necessary for well cover in case of oil spill.

The USA was reported to have allowed Shell to hold deep-water drilling in the Arctic Seas. The respective announcement was made by the head of the Bureau of energy production in the Ocean of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs of the USA, A. Ross. Shell’s plan presupposes the drilling in the Chukotka Sea (between Alaska and Chukotka) as well as to the north from the coast of Canada and Alaska.
