PGNiG hopes for a discount from Gazprom

​PGNiG (Poland) hopes to agree with Gazprom on the reduction of the gas price and considers an opportunity of search and extraction of gas in Iran after the cancellation of sanctions, the head of PGNiG, M. Zavisha, said.

The negotiations with Gazprom have entered the “mature” stage, Mr. Zavisha said. The negotiations started in November 2014 and in May 2015 PGNiG filed a claim against Gazprom to the Arbitration Tribunal of Stockholm demanding to change price making due to the oil price fall.

I think there is an opportunity to complete the negotiations with Gazprom. Last time the negotiations lasted for a few months. This time a year has passed from the start of negotiations and they are in the mature stage. Moreover, oil price is in our favor, Mr. Zavisha said.

PGNiG purchases 10.2 bln cubic m of gas a year from Gazprom. Poland consumes almost 16 bln cubic m a year. The country constructs a terminal on LNG acceptation in the Baltic Sea.
