New mine is constructed at Gaisky GOK

In 2014, Gaisky GOK (a part of UGMK) plans to complete construction of main “Novaya”. The construction of the Novaya mine is a part of the UGMK’s strategic project “Opening-up and development of deep horizons at the level 830-1310 meters of the Gaisky GOK’s underground mine”. The project’s aim is to increase the ore mining capacity of the Gaisky GOK’s underground mine from 5.5 million tons to 6.5 million tons per year. The project includes a complex of facilities of the mine, which are under reconstruction and construction, as below ground, as at the surface.

The purpose of the Novaya mine is men hoisting and ore winding. The depth of the mine will reach 1418 meters. The mine launch, scheduled for 2014, will provide increase of the ore mining to 4.5 million tons from levels 830-1070 meters that will reduce burden on the other shafts.
