Kazakhstan suggested Gazprom changing the route of the Altai pipeline
Kazakhstan suggests Gazprom changing the route of construction of the Russian-Chinese gas pipeline. Instead of constructing the infrastructure via the Altai mountains, Russia can use the already existing gas pipeline “Bukhara-Ural” which supplies gas to the southern regions of Kazakhstan. Then gas is shipped to the Bozoi-Chimkent gas pipeline which is connected with the route gas pipeline “Central Asia-China” by which Beijing receives gas from Turkmenistan, head of KazMunaiGas, S. Mynbaev, said.
He also emphasized that Gazprom can save: “In the case of realization of this project, it won’t be necessary to invent anything new, it is possible to do everything with the existing pipes”.
Kommersant says that the suggestion doesn’t seem to be very attractive ad in any case the construction of “Altai” stays the absolute priority.
