Gazprom doesn’t let Ukraine buy German gas from Slovakia

Russian Gazprom blocks deliveries of German RWE's gas via the territory of Slovakia as it reduces to approve gas transportation to Ukraine. As it was reported by Zerkalo Nedeli on Friday, Gazprom has such opportunity in compliance with the contract with Naftogaz of January 19, 2009 presupposing that Russian monopoly can be the operator of Ukrainian gas transportation system at this sector up to EU border.

“We believe, the acting contract between Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom presupposes that Gazprom can be the operator of the transportation network at transit routes where the company is the consignor (i.e. orders the transportation)”, CEO of RWE Supply&Trading GmbH Stefan Judisch said.
