EU Commissioner: Russian oil and gas supply to Europe is not to be subject of sanctions

Russian oil and gas supplies to Europe are not to be the subject of sanctions, EU Commissioner G.Oettinger said.

“I have always been against any sanctions in the area of oil and gas supply from Russia,” he said. He has also added that the Russian Federation “depends on western technologies for the production of hydrocarbons at the shelf and shale gas.”

“The question on the restriction of such technologies can be discussed by the EU Council, if Russia does not promote peace,” ITAR-TASS reports citing, G.Oettinger.

The EU Commissioner also stated that the EU Commission is about to reach an agreement on natural gas supply between Russia and Ukraine.
