Medvedev: LNG from USA to cost Europe more than Russian gas

​LNG from the USA might cost Europe much more than the Russian gas, PM D. Medvedev said.

“All rumors are about breaking the energy dependence on Russia – ok, let’s break it. The question is – by means of what? The interests of consumers in Europe should be in priority. Gas can be shipped in bottles, for example, from the USA. But in this case this gas will be expensive. This is a question of money, of formal commercial character. And we think all these projects (Turkish Stream, expansion of Nord Stream) have good chances. I hope they will be able to provide gas to Europe”, Medvedev said. “Very often they try to show that poor Europe depends on Russia. Frankly speaking, we also depend on Europe at the same rate. If we ship gas to you, if we invest billions of dollars into our deposits, our pipes, then we also depend on the supplies to Europe like Europe depends on gas supplies from Russia”, Medvedev said.

“For Russia the European gas market is very important, it is of key importance…”, he said.
