Development of Absheron deposit to start after 2020, Azerbaijan

The development of the Absheron gas condensate deposit in the Azeri sector of the Caspian will start in 2021, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, N. Aliev said.
The discovery of the large gas deposit Abseron was announced in September 2011, on the results of the drilling of an exploratory well. The deposit’s potential reserves make up 350 bln cubic m of gas and 45 mln tons of condensate. The participants of the Absheron project are SOCAR – 40%, Total – 40% and Gaz De France Suez - 20%.
According to Mr. Aliev, the capacities of the Umid and Absheron deposits, perspective structures Shafag-Asiman and Babek form the basis for strengthening of Azerbaijan’s gas potential.
