Gazprom to start gas extraction in Bolivia in 2016

Russian companies are interested in working in Bolivia, the President Putin said at the meeting with the President of Bolivia, E. Merales.

Your country is one of the largest gas producers. There are good reserves. Gazprom is already working in your country, and plans to start extraction in 2016, Mr. Putin said.

Gazprom is not the only company interested in working in Bolivia. The spheres of electric energy, car manufacturing, some high-tech sectors are interesting as well. We are ready to work with you in the military-technical sector, Mr. Putin said.

Mr. Morales previously invited Rosneft to work in the country. We expect Rosneft to come here, the President of Bolivia said a year ago.

Gazprom works at the Azero, Ipati and Aquio blocks in Bolivia. The stakes in the project of exploration and hydrocarbons development at the Ipati и Aquio sites are the following: 60% - Total E&P Bolivie (operator), 20% - Gazprom International and 20% - Tecpetrol de Bolivia S. A. (Argentina). In 2004 Total E&P Bolivie discovered the Incahauasi deposit in the northern part of the Ipati site. 3 wells were drilled at the site – Incahauasi-X1, Incahauasi-X2, Aquio-X1001. The tests confirmed that the reserves of the Incahauasi deposit are sufficient for industrial development.
