Vladimir Berstenev: IrkAZ concentrates on Asian market

In 2012 the production at Irkutsk aluminium plant (IrkAZ) increased on the background of reduction of average annual metal prices. As reported by the General Director of IrkAZ Vladimir Berstenev to Oblastnaya paper, last year the enterprise produced more than 405 thousand tons of liquid aluminium and 412 thousand tons of ware aluminium. Totally, the increment made up 2%.

– Last year the economic results proved to be slightly worse due to low aluminium prices, Berstenev says. – Nevertheless, the unfavourable market conjuncture makes us look for the new ways to increase the volumes without implementation of new facilities and with minimal expenditures. Last year the production increased due to the organization measures, including those aimed at optimization of the costs, and increment of efficiency of the equipment. This resulted in 2% growth and reaching the record production for the whole history of the plant. Besides, the productivity increased by 6.9%.
