Damage to soil from UC Rusal’s activity in the Krasnoyarsk region exceeds 720 million rubles
During past two years, Rosselkhoznadzor has been struggling with damage that industrial giant Rusal Achinsk makes to nature of the Krasnoyarsk region.
As the department explained, the main negative impact is the emergency overflow of process water from sludge fields to the surrounding farmland. In the past two years, the floods increased almost 20 times.
The first such case was identified by officers in February 2013. As a result, harm to agricultural land with total area of 1.6 hectares was made. At the same time, the amount of damages made up more than 80 million rubles.
On this fact by the decision of the Board on Civil Cases of the Krasnoyarsk regional court Rusal Achinsk transferred more than 71 million rubles as compensation for the caused damage in the budget of the Achinsk district.
