BP proposes to consider AGRI project as additional component of Southern Gas Corridor

BP has proposed to consider the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania- Hungary Interconnection project (AGRI) as an additional component of the Southern Gas Corridor, official website of SOCAR reports.

Issues related to the implementation of the AGRI project were discussed in Bucharest on Wednesday, at the meeting of Energy Ministers of the countries participating in this project.

During the meeting the stands of member countries with respect to the project implementation, the final version of the feasibility study and the financing of the project were discussed.

"At the meeting, vice-president of BP on the Southern Gas Corridor Joey Murphy noted that AGRI should be considered as an additional component of Southern Gas Corridor and the effective implementation of this project required in the preparation of appropriate legal, technical and economic documents between the countries - participants".

The Energy Minister Natig Aliyev, in turn, touched the economic and social importance of the AGRI project, role of Azerbaijan in ensuring energy security of Europe, the country's contribution to the diversification of energy transportation routes, as well as ongoing energy projects.
